Godforsaken is a real-time 3D environment based on the Unreal Engine 4.
The central element of the environment is a fictitious Mediterranean monastery. It is surrounded by a landscape with mountains on one side and the sea on the other.
This project was created in the 4th semester of my studies in collaboration with a fellow student.

Trailer

In the early stages of the project, my fellow student and I developed initial concepts and a proposal for our project together. We then each created a miniature 3D model and used it as the basis for further, more detailed concept art.
As the project progressed, we divided our work - for reasons of efficiency but also due to the restrictions imposed by the pandemic. My fellow student was responsible for modeling and texturing the monastery, while I took care of the environment in Unreal Engine 4. An exchange took place online at regular intervals.
For the detailed development of the environment, I used assets and textures from the Unreal Store as well as modeling them myself in Maya and texturing them in Substance Painter.
My aim was to use the assets, post-processing etc. to realize my vision of the environment as appealingly as possible in real-time, so that in theory it could serve as the basis for a game.

Concepts

The floor plan and the concept art of the main entrance were created by my fellow student. For the sake of completeness, both are presented here anyway.

Example: Process

This building is located in the side courtyard of the monastery, right next to a construction site.
It serves here as a before-and-after example to illustrate the use of assets and foliage.
