The 3D character “MEC” was created in the third semester of my media design studies.

In a dystopian, cyberpunk like future, this shady mechanic runs a repair shop on the lowest levels of a mega city. In addition to his legal business, he is mainly known for illegal medical operations regarding implants. It is said that he even implanted his own implants himself.

Concept

The project started with the conceptualization of the character. Once I had decided which direction I wanted to go in, I created a concept and a character sheet. These then formed the basis for my work in 3D. In the course of the work, some elements of the concept were changed slightly - partly due to stylistic decisions, partly due to time constraints.

The software I used was Autodesk Maya for the 3D modeling and Substance Painter for texturing.
